The former TRIA had a few downsides that the new model manages to overcome. There where three main issues customers buying the TRIA laser found out very quickly, some customers even complained about these issues at the hair removal forums.

Slow sessions - The slow laser session was a huge drawback in the old system which made the hair removal process very slow and uncomfortable to follow. The hand piece was losing energy too quickly which meant the TRIA system needed to be charged more often; sometimes right in the middle of the laser session. The new TRIA beam projection cycle was sped up. Instead of waiting 2-3 seconds with the press down (stamp) motion between the beeps, the new model laser process is smoother now, as the system can be moved from one spot to the other more easily, without stamping.

The power levels were improved also, now the TRIA has 5 energy levels. When using the lower energy levels the system is able to work for longer times between charges. The 5 levels can be seen and picked from the digital menu on the top of the device.

The inner rechargeable batteries have been improved too, and the charging time was reduced. It takes one and a half hours to completely charge the new model. This means that when the system energy is low, a shorter charging break is needed before you can resume the hair removal session.

One last thing, the price of the new TRIA was improved too; the company knocked off 0 from the former model list price, making the TRIA system the most affordable hair removal system in the category.

The home hair removal systems have been stale for many years; recently new models have been launched by the major brand names, making it an interesting time for hair removal consumers with plenty of home systems to pick from. Today manufacturers of the home removals systems, place more emphasis on user friendly systems rather on better or stronger lasers. The new TRIA Model release is an example for this change.
